STORY

Universal Century 0079: The Principality of Zeon has declared its independence from the Earth Federation, and subsequently launched a massive war of independence, a war which has raged on every continent on earth and in nearly every space colony and lunar settlement. The Zeon have the upper hand because of their revolutionary new weapon, the humanoid mobile suit. When a Zeon recon team disobeys mission orders and begins attacking the colony Side 7, its citizens stumble across the Federation's latest weapon: the Gundam. With the aid of Earth Federation soldiers stationed aboard the MS carrier White Base, the newly formed crew of refugees sets out to change the course of the One Year War — or die trying.

Overview

This series is the very first Gundam story and is referred to endearingly as "First Gundam" by fans. It gained many Gundam lovers by being the most advanced show in terms of scientific technology, such as space colonies, and the realistic portrayals of what life with the advancements would be like. That's not to mention that the story contains deep human drama that had never been seen before in any robot-centered anime, making this series the most immersive for almost any age group. Aside from the show itself, plastic "Gunpla" model kits contributed tremendously to the beginning of the Gundam boom.

Characters

Amuro RayAmuro is the main protagonist of the show and pilot of the RX-78-2 Gundam. He, at the young age of 15, is already a "mechanic nerd" who lives in Side 7. During a Zeon attack on the colony, he happens upon the Gundam and pilots it to destroy an MS-06 Zaku II for the first time. Throughout the war, Amuro's mental stress and his growing Newtype powers distance him more and more from the other crew members of the White Base.
Bright NoaBright is a loyal and dedicated soldier both in war and peace. He enforces strict military discipline and regulations, yet he never hesitates to make the morally sound decision for the better of all. He becomes the captain of the White Base when he is only 17 years old, and remains in command throughout the course of Amuro's tenure there.
Char AznableChar is an Ace pilot in the Zeon principality. He is nicknamed "Red Comet" after the notable red color on all his mobile suits, which he has customized to his liking. He wears a mask to conceal his personality. Most notably, he was a posthumous child of Zeon Zum Deikun.
Sayla Mass Sayla is a medical student who took refuge in the White Base. She was actually born as Artesia Som Deikun, only daughter and youngest child of influential philosopher and politician Zeon Zum Deikun, and the younger sister of Casval Rem Deikun (Char Aznable).
Fraw BowFraw is fifteen years old and one of Amuro's closest friends. She is so devoted to his welfare that their mutual friends refer to her as Amuro's best friend. She is also a survivor from the Zeon's Zaku attack on Side 7. Frau and Amuro become crew members in the White Base, along with Hayato and other Side 7 civilians.
Mirai YashimaMirai is a civilian who joins the White Base crew after the attack on Side 7. Her training as a space glider pilot makes her the best choice to take the White Base's helm, and she soon becomes both Bright Noa's trusted deputy and a surrogate mother to the ship's young crew. She is also the daughter of a powerful and well-connected family.
Kai ShidenKai lives in the space colony Green Oasis in Bunch 1 of Side 7. He is tall and lanky in stature with a mop of gray hair, and his snarky and sarcastic personality often gets him scolded or slapped around. He is assigned to the pilot of RX-77-2 Guncannon, which he remains in charge of for the rest of the One Year War.
Hayato KobayashiHayato was one of Amuro Ray's neighbors on Side 7. Short and stocky with a tendency towards insecurity, he often measured himself against the accomplishments of his friend Amuro. After surviving the attack on his Side 7 home, he eventually started co-piloting the Guntank alongside Ryu Jose, acting as the gunner while Ryu acted as pilot.
Ryu JoseA large, stocky Latino man with a dusky complexion, Ryu was a test pilot-in-training for the Earth Federation on Side 7. When the colony was attacked by Char Aznable, Ryu took control of the Core Fighter jet to protect the White Base. He is also a pilot of Guntank with Hayato Kobayashi.
Lalah SuneLalah is a mysterious young girl whom Amro encountered in Side 6. She is the "star student" of Professor Flanagan due to her strong Newtype abilities. Char discovered her potential power and dragged her to pilot the Newtype-use mobile armor MAN-08 Elmeth. Her powers are accompanied by a profound spiritual awareness.

Mechanics

RX-78-2 GundamThe RX-78-2 was the second of three Gundam prototype units constructed on Side 7 in UC 0079 as part of the Earth Federation's V Project. Gundam would turn the tide of war in favor of the Earth Federation during the One Year War. The unit was primarily piloted by Amuro Ray. Its enemies refer to the machine endearingly as "White Devil."
RX-77-2 GuncannonLike RX-78-2 Gundam, Guncannon is constructed on Side 7 as part of the Earth Federation's V Project. Guncannon's primary weapons are the twin 240 mm cannons mounted on the shoulders, which are used for mid-range support. The Guncannon is also the first mobile suit used by the E.F.F capable of firing a beam rifle.

RGM-79 GMThis mass production mobile suit was constructed after RX-2 Gundam. In order to focus on the ease of production, the GM was armed rather simply, with most of its weapons being basically scaled down versions of that of the RX-78-2 Gundam. However, due to its Gundam-like origins, it is far superior to the Zeon Zaku.

MS-06F Zaku IIThis is the most numerous mobile suit in Zeon's armed forces. It is an improvement over its predecessor, the MS-05 Zaku I, in many ways. It is faster, far more durable, has a better Minovsky Reactor, and can be fitted with many more weapons. Over the course of the One Year War, the greatest number of Zaku II are produced.
MS-06S Zaku II Char's CustomMS-06S Zaku II can be customized for commanders to pilot. This unique red one is operated by Char Aznable. It features a more powerful generator; in turn, the S-Type Zaku II has greater thrust and acceleration that allows it to move at speeds three times faster than a normal Zaku II.
MS-05A Zaku I Early TypeThis is the world's first nuclear-powered MS to achieve combat status in the UC timeline. It is developed by the Zeonic Company in the Principality of Zeon's quest to develop a combat-capable mobile weapon that uses the AMBAC, or Active Mass Balance Auto Control System and the revolutionary Minovsky fusion reactor.

MS-07 GoufThe Gouf is a ground combat mobile suit developed to fight primarily against other mobile suits. It is armed with a 75 mm machine gun hand and "heat rod," which could be used as a superheated slicing weapon or as a grappling weapon with a powerful electric shock effect. These unique features make this suit a threat even to the Gundam.

MS-09B Rick DomThe Dom is a mass-production ground combat mobile suit. It is most well-known for being piloted by the Black Tri-Stars. It is developed as a heavy-type, high performance mobile suit, which can outmaneuver the Federation's new mass production MS RGM-79 GM. Its space combat type MS-09R Rick Dom is developed at the end of the war.
MSM-07 Z'GokThis mass production amphibious mobile suit was constructed with the Gogg's and Acguy's errors in mind. It is considered the most successful amphibious mobile suit in the Principality of Zeon during the One Year War. It features built-in mega particle cannons on both hands.

MAN-08 ElmethThe experimental Elmeth mobile armor is produced by the Principality of Zeon under the auspices of the secret Flanagan Project for use as a Newtype-capable mobile armor. Among the Elmeth's capabilities are its Psycommu control system, which allows a Newtype pilot to control the 12 large "bit" pod weapons with his/her brainwaves.
MSN-02 ZeongThe Zeong is a mobile suit in the fact that its shape is roughly humanoid. It is only 80% completed but it performs well in gravity-lacking space, since the legs aided in the AMBAC System. With its advanced psycommu technology and high number of mega particle guns, the MSN-02 Zeong proved to be a powerful opponent. Aspect

Aspect

Ever since Universal Century (UC) began over 50 years ago, people have lived in space colonies as a second home and gradually expanded their lives to space. As time has gone on, the gap between people on the earth and people in the colonies has gotten deeper and more serious; in the year UC 0079, The Principality of Zeon announced the declaration of independence from the Earth Federation. Thus began the One Year War, the first war in UC history.

Earth Federation: The Earth Federation is a governmental organization in control of the Earth and the space colonies. They initiated the agenda for migration to space in order to deal with overpopulation problems, and eventually they laid the foundations of the UC.
Principality of Zeon: A colony nation established at Side 3 at the back side of the moon in UC 0069. It states that it is a principality, but is actually an almost dictatorial regime under the great chief Degwin Sodo Zabi. The name "Zeon" comes from the great philosopher Zeon Zum Deikun.

Mobile Suit Gundam Wing

4/7/1995 – 3/29/1996

49 Episodes

Story

The story of Gundam Wing begins in the year After Colony 195 with the start of Operation Meteor, the scientists' plan for revenge against the OZ military organization. The operation involves five young boys who have each been chosen and trained by one of the five rogue scientists, then sent to Earth independently in extremely advanced Mobile Suits, one designed by each of the scientists, known as "Gundams;" these suits are called Gundams because they are constructed from a rare and astonishingly durable material known as Gundanium alloy, which can only be created in outer space. The five Gundam pilots originally have no knowledge of each other's existence. On first meeting any of the other five, each pilot believes the others to be enemy pilots in new OZ mobile suit designs. Once the young pilots realize that they have the same objective of destroying OZ (and in some cases the same mission), they band together to help each other complete their goals.

Overview

Mobile Suit Gundam Wing is the second alternate universe story in the Gundam media franchise, following Mobile Fighter G Gundam, which took place in the After Colony timeline. It starts off with a dynamic action scene of five mobile suits and stays tense all the way to the end. It has gained massive popularity, especially because it was the first anime in the Gundam franchise to be dubbed and released in the United States, which occurred in 2000.

Characters

Heero YuyHeero is the pilot of Wing Gundam. He is a very complicated character; his cold, stoic demeanor seems more fitting for a battle hardened veteran than a fifteen-year-old boy. When Relena Peacecraft meets Doctor J, the engineer comments that Heero is actually a very kind-hearted young man who keeps his emotions reined in at all times.
Duo MaxwellDuo is the pilot of Gundam Deathscythe. He seems like a happy, charming, relaxed, and laid-back jokester, and for the most part he is; however, he is also a complex person with a terrible childhood that he hides even from those close to him.
Trowa BartonTrowa is the pilot of Heavyarms. The most experienced soldier of the Gundam pilots, he is also the only one born on Earth. Trowa is a quiet but determined person; patient and calm, he will analyze any situation before acting.
Quatre Raberba WinnerQuatre is the pilot of Gundam Sandrock. He seems to be the most well-adjusted of the group, generally displaying a kind, humble personality. As a firm believer in the ideal of pacifism, he is a reluctant soldier who often expresses sorrow whenever he is forced to kill his enemies.
Chang WufeiWufei is the pilot of Shenlong Gundam. Much like Heero, he is a conflicted character; he remains calm in many situations that would concern his fellows, but he's also prone to angry emotional outbursts in response to many things, such as conflicts in ideologies and the gender of his opponents.
Relena DarlianRelena is the female lead of the series. Due to a few strange twists in fate, her life becomes entangled with Heero's. She is thrust into the conflict after her father is assassinated, and she continues to pursue Heero, desperate for a better look into who he really is.
Zechs MerquiseZechs is the masked ace pilot in OZ. He donned his iconic mask and left behind the name Peacecraft for his new moniker, Zechs Merquise. He is also the older brother of Relena Peacecraft and serves as Heero Yuy's rival during the series.
Treize KhushrenadaTreize is a master politician and manipulator second to none. He is an expert strategist and tactician on and off the battlefield. On the surface he is cold and reserved, rarely letting his emotions get the best of him. He professes a love for war, believing that when properly conducted, it brings out the best in humanity.
Lady UneA soldier in the OZ Specials, Lady Une has received elite combat training. She uses any methods (no matter how reprehensible) to get the job done. It should also be mentioned that she suffers from a case of multiple personality disorder.
Lucrezia NoinFor a soldier she is quite the idealist, believing that "battles that risk men's lives are miscalculations," and often tries to resolve matters through less violent means. She also appears to be a somewhat tomboyish, although mature woman.
Sally PoSally was a soldier of the United Earth Sphere Alliance, assigned to colony A0206. She treated one of the Gundam pilots, Heero Yuy, in a hospital early in the series, and as a result is filled with respect toward him and the other four Gundam pilots.

Aspect

Prologue
Operation Meteor was the name given to the plot conceived by rebellious members of the colonies as a form of retaliation for the assassination of the political leader Heero Yuy, who began preaching a policy of pacifism and non-violence, urging the world's nations to disarm. Following Yuy's death, the United Earth Sphere Alliance began tightening its control over the colonies even further, cutting off communications between the colonies, lest rebellion ferment. However, the act of killing Heero Yuy provoked just that. The colonies developed the Gundams along with help from disgruntled scientists from OZ, and the plan of Operation Meteor was born.

The United Earth Sphere Alliance he United Earth Sphere Alliance, or UESA, came into being in the year AC 133. The Alliance was a governing body for the Earth and the Colonies that was originally intended to act as a type of mutual defense pact. The Alliance was led by elected representatives from the nations of the Earth and the Colonies. It was intended that the creation of the Alliance would lead to the end of the conflicts that had begun on Earth and then spread to the Colonies.
OZ The Organization of the Zodiac, or OZ, is the military wing of the Romefeller Foundation, which came to the forefront in the waning years of the United Earth Sphere Alliance. OZ operated as a division of the Alliance Military. It served as a form of Special Forces or black ops group within the Alliance.
The family of Colony Nations The family of Colony Nations, designated from L1 to L5, remained under the tightening control of the United Earth Sphere Alliance until the five rebellious scientists designed a Gundam in each one of the five colonies. Their unique characteristics as living spaces contributed to the Gundam pilots' unique personalities and thus provide much of the tension throughout the series.
The Sanc Kingdom The Sanc Kingdom existed in Northern Europe, possibly along the coast of the Baltic Sea. The kingdom had been under the peaceful rule of the Peacecraft Dynasty for many years. One of the most beloved of the Peacecraft monarchs was King Peacecraft, the last reigning monarch before the creation of the Alliance. Under his rule, the Sanc Kingdom cultivated a peaceful diplomatic and economic friendship with the Colonies through their political representative Heero Yuy.

Mechanics

RX-178 Gundam Mk-IIOne of three prototype mobile suits developed by the Titans in UC 0087. Its design effectively traded armor and weaponry in favor of increased mobility - a very large factor in melee combat common in mobile suit deployment. It inherits its predecessor's high performance and remarkable potential, although it suffers from a few lingering design flaws - notably, its obsolete armor materials.
MSZ-006 Zeta GundamA culmination of the AEUG's secret "Zeta Project," which goal is to create a transformable mobile suit capable of operating in every environment from weightless space to Earth's gravity. the Zeta Gundam is very well armed with an arsenal favoring beam weapons. It includes standard Gundam type armament including head mounted Vulcan guns, dual beam sabers, and a high powered beam rifle.
MS-099 Rick DiasOne of the first mass-produced mobile suits of the AEUG's Zeta Project for their fight against the corrupt Titans. Three Rick Dias mobile suits would be used to infiltrate the colony, led by AEUG ace Quattro Bajeena in his custom painted red Rick Dias. It's also the first mobile suit armored with lightweight Gundarium Gamma alloy, allowing it to carry a larger propellant supply.
MSN-00100 Hyaku ShikiA mobile suit built by Anaheim Electronics as part of the "Zeta Project". It is initially assigned to Quattro Bajeena of the AEUG and remained in service until its abandonment during the end of the Gryps War, following a confrontation between Quattro Bajeena and Haman Karn of the Axis camp. Its name is based on the wish that mechanics believe it lasts hundred years (in Japanese Hundred is Hyku).

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED

50 Episodes

Story

The series takes place in the "Cosmic Era" timeline in which mankind is divided between normal Earth dwelling humans, known as "Naturals," and the genetically altered humans known as "Coordinators," who live in space colonies. The story, set during the Bloody Valentine War, begins in the neutral space colony Heliopolis, where the secret development of advanced mobile suits for the Naturals' war effort is being conducted. The colony is attacked by ZAFT forces, the military of the Coordinators, with the objective of stealing the new units. During the incursion a teenage Coordinator named Kira Yamato pilots the GAT-X105 Strike mobile suit to fend off the invaders.

Overview

The series is the first set in the Cosmic Era universe. This series begins with a war between Earth and the colonies that is similar to the One Year War of the original Gundam series. The story features mental conflicts and dramatic relationships among the characters. Gundam Seed mobile suits are designed to be stylish, which contributed to the increase in the sale of Gundam model kits. It also gained tremendous numbers of fans, especially—more so than almost any other Gundam series—women.

Characters

Mechanics

GAT-X105 Strike GundamThe Strike is the most versatile of the five Gundams created by the Earth Alliance's G Project that secretly collaborated with Morgenroete to develop Mobile Suits. Design-wise, the Strike is simply an extension of the Duel's frame, allowing for a multi-role function not featured in the Duel, Buster, or Blitz.
GAT-X102 Duel GundamThis suit is among the first to be completed in the Earth Alliance's G Project series of prototype mobile suits, and was developed with the concept of a general-purpose combat machine in mind. After being stolen by ZAFT and damaged in battle, the suit is upgraded with the Assaultshroud armor, which fits several armor plates over the body for extra durability.
GAT-X103 Buster GundamThis product of the Earth Alliance's G Project was designed as a long-range artillery mobile suit; the Buster's armament consists solely of long range weapons, including a gun launcher, a high-energy rifle, and two missile pods.
GAT-X207 Blitz GundamThe Blitz is the first mobile weapon to use the Mirage Colloid technology. The stealth system is comprised of a field of microscopic prisms held in magnetic suspension around the Gundam, and uses the same energy conduits found in the Phase Shift armor. It is stored secretly on the Orb Union controlled space colony Heliopolis.
GAT-X303 Aegis GundamAegis is, as the name implies, a commander-type mobile suit with very advanced sensors and heavy attack power. It can transform into a mobile armor configuration armed with a "Scylla" 580mm energy cannon. Additionally, the suit features a hand-held 60mm beam rifle.
ZGMF-X10A Freedom GundamAn advanced mobile suit based on technology reverse-engineered from the captured Earth Alliance's G Project suits. It is primarily designed for ranged combat and thus features a large number of long range weapons. The Freedom features a unique 10-wing HiMAT mode for superior speed and agility.
ZGMF-X09A Justice GundamZAFT developed Justice Gundam based on technology reverse-engineered from the captured Earth Alliance's G Project suits. The most unique feature of the Justice is its Fatum-00 backpack, which can be remotely controlled or used as a sub-flight lifter. That unit is also well-armed with a pair of beam cannons and multiple machine guns.
GAT-X131 Calamity GundamDesigned as an artillery mobile suit, the Calamity is only equipped with several powerful beam weapons, completely lacking any close combat weaponry. The Calamity is first used in the conquest of neutral Orb, then sent to space and assigned to the Archangel-class assault ship Dominion under the supervision of Azrael.

GAT-X252 Forbidden GundamIn contrast with Calamity Gundam, Forbidden Gundam was designed as a close-combat attack unit. One of the new technologies implemented in the Forbidden Gundam is Trans-Phase armor, which is an improved version of Phase Shift armor. Whereas Phase Shift armor utilizes a "power up" mode denoted by color and a 'power down' mode denoted by gray, Trans-Phase armor is designed to only activate at the point of impact and thus preserve energy. This energy can then be used for power-consuming energy weapons.

GAT-X370 Raider GundamRaider Gundam is a transformable attack-use mobile suit, designed mainly for aerial combat. Its armaments are comprised of a well-balanced set of beam weapons and shell-firing weapons, with some of them being only usable in flight mode.

ZGMF-1017 GINNA durable mass-produced general-purpose mobile suit used by ZAFT, which was developed from first mass production military-use mobile suits, MS YMF-01B Proto GINN and ZGMF-1017 GINN. It has two large, thruster-filled "wings" on its back and carries basic, dependable weapons: a 76mm machine gun and a 10-meter-long sword form its primary armament.

TMF/A-802 BuCUEThis is a mobile suit clearly designed for ground assaults. Unlike other ZAFT mobile suits, the BuCUE is a quadruped, more like a dog than a human. The four-legged design evenly distributes the weight of the BuCUE, giving the mobile suit greater balance and mobility on the ground than any other ZAFT mobile suit.

ZGMF-X13A Providence GundamLike the other Gundams created by ZAFT, Providence features "Neutron Jammer Canceller" which counters the effects of the ubiquitous Neutron Jammers and allows these suits to be powered by nuclear reactors. It is equipped with the powerful DRAGOON weapon system, as well as several smaller, more standard weapons.
Archangel-classAs a prototype ship, the Archangel-class is equipped with several unique new features. One such feature is an ablative gel, which can be released by the ship during atmospheric reentry to absorb heat. Its armament features positron blaster cannons, beam guns, CIWS, linear cannons, and several missile launchers, making the class more offensively capable than many others.

Aspect

For many years after George Glenn's revelation, Coordinators remained illegal. When the ban was repealed in the CE 30's, the "Coordinator boom" started and lasted until the CE 50's. Following the rapid and widespread diffusion of Coordinators, major social unrest spread, throwing the world into chaos. Many Naturals started to oppose the Coordinators out of jealousy for their abilities, stating that they were created unnaturally. Anti-Coordinator pressure groups, most notably Blue Cosmos, labeled Coordinators as "unhuman" and declared that they had to be wiped out "for a blue and pure world."

ZAFT Force ZAFT is the military of the Coordinators and is run by PLANT. It is based on a political association established by Patrick Zala and Siegel Clyne. It develops highly advanced mobile suits and runs the dead heat against Earth Alliance.
Earth Federation Force The military force run by the E.A has tremendous power over Atlantic. Their main mechanics were mobile armors before mobile suits began to be developed in collaboration with the Morghen Lethe Company.
Blue Cosmos Blue Cosmos is the most radical of the anti-Coordinator activist groups formed by resentful Naturals, and is the ruling force behind the Earth Alliance. According to the Blue Cosmos ideology, genetic modification is a violation of the natural order, and all Coordinators must be exterminated "for the preservation of our blue and pure world."

6 Episodes

Story

December, Universal Century 0079. Zeon intelligence has identified a prototype Federation Gundam under development in a Federation base in the Arctic. The Cyclops Team, an elite Zeon MS commando team is dispatched to destroy the prototype, but before they can accomplish their mission the Gundam is launched into space. When the Gundam turns up in a Federation R&D base inside the neutral space colony Side 6 , the Principality launches a covert operation to destroy the Gundam. When the raid fails, the Zeon prepares to launch a nuclear strike against the colony as punishment for siding with the Federation unless the last remaining commando can eliminate the Gundam.

Overview

Mobil Suit Gundam 0083 is the first OVA (Original Video Animation) series. As suggested by its subtitle, "War in the Pocket," it is a small, personal story; a side story focusing on the experiences of a ten-year-old boy during the One Year War. Gundam 0080 marked a significant departure from the constant background theme of Newtypes featured in the U.C Gundam universe, since the original Mobile Suit Gundam up until Char's Counterattack. The absence of this theme raised the series' appeal towards audiences without special liking of Gundam and Tomino's work and would continue in many following Gundam stories narrating about ordinary soldiers and people in these conflicts.

Characters

Alfred IzuruhaAl ( as his nickname) is a fifth-grade student living at Side 6's Libot space colony. To distract himself from his parents' strained relationship and his own troubles at school, he spends most of his time collecting military paraphernalia with his friends and trading breathless stories of the ferocious battles taking place outside the neutral colonies of Side 6.
Bernard WisemanA novice pilot who is one of ill-trained students that Zeon sends to the front lines as its military situation worsens. Shot down on his first mission, he accidentally obtains vital intelligence on the Federation's new Gundam, and on this pretext he is assigned to the elite Cyclops commando team.
Christina MackenzieAl's former neighbor and also a test pilot, who left Libot to attend the Earth Federation's military academy. She returns to the colony just before the first Zeon attack, and quickly becomes a surrogate big sister to her old friend Al.
Steiner HardyA commander of the Cyclops commando team who is a seasoned veteran, adepts at everything from demolitions to mobile suit combat. Since his experience helps him, he can foresee carefully to operate missions.
Mikhail KaminskySteiner's right-hand man who is a member of Cyclops Team, and a seasoned veteran in his own right. Notably fond of booze, he always enters battle with a flask of bourbon in his cockpit. He pilots Kampfer.
Gabriel Ramirez GarciaA junior member of the Cyclops Team, and he seems quite pleased to have a new guy to bully. But despite his sarcastic commentary and unnerving knife-play, he proves to be a brave and loyal teammate in the commands.
Colonel KillingA ruthless and intimidating Zeon's officer. He launches the Operation Rubicon to capture the Earth Federation's newest mobile suit Alex. He is a very cruel commander who has no hesitate to send pilots to a subside assignment.

Mechanics
