A solid High Grade kit that's great for beginners and seasoned hobbyists!
I've recently become fond of the AGE mobile suits despite not having watched the anime, so I started with the first of the AGE kits, the AGE-1 Normal. It is somewhat dated as far as production goes, since it came out in 2011, but it still manages to hold up even against modern HG kits! The aesthetics are very solid and give the kit a very distinct feel, with the central AGE icon in the chest making it stand out against other Gundam types. It's very colorful even when built right out the box, and a little bit of panel lining will make the kit shine.
All that being said, there are some caveats to consider, namely the stickers. It's unavoidable with HG kits, of course, but this one has an abundance of cool details reduced to stickers, such as the aforementioned chest symbol. The good news is that those parts are separated on the sprue, so if you're savvy with a spray can or airbrush, coloring those parts is a breeze. It's a minor nitpick, but still worth mentioning. The articulation is about on par with other HGs of its time, so it's not quite as flexible if you're looking to pose it dramatically. But it's still solid in that regard.
Even so, this kit is fantastic as a first purchase, especially if you're looking to go beyond the Entry Grade kits that are available. It's easy to build, very pleasing to the eye, and comes with additional weapons for further customization! Happy Building!
