I've Never Loved an HGUC Kit More! Headline: Lovely articulation but no more electroplated armor.
Lemme start by saying, that this is a fantastic kit. It looks really good, proportions look SPOT on, double jointed elbows, and knees, as well as 2 separate ball joints in the torso, U-joint hips, etc. It's the standard HG fare, but is done much better than the old one. Really, even as a straight build, I think it looks fantastic. It's also so darn sturdy! Maybe someday we'll see the Delta Plus from MSG:U redone with this frame. Oh yeah, all the read hoses? They're actually molded in a really nice deep maroon. Not metallic like in the product pictures, but still good looking. Also, short of the Beam Rifle, every weapon can be pegged onto the MS for storage.
Downsides? Well, no more electroplated gold. I actually never built the old one, and it never made an impression on me. I think the kit sill looks perfectly presentable, but painting it will look better of course. There's a pretty small sheet of foil stickers, but most of them aren't strictly necessary in my opinion. Another low point for me is the feet, which are just solid. I know it's not a transformable kit, but something with this much articulation and such long feet (compared to say, a GM/GM), and limited ankles, should really have a tow joint. Also, the Beam Rifle will need some paint for animation accuracy. Also, only the normal holding hands.
That's really it. If you've ever wanted a Hyaku Shiki that's more playable and articulated than the old one, the Delta Plus, and/or the HGBF Mega Shiki, this is a no brainer. It'll look decent with little effort and can pose pretty well. I'd say it's up there with the GM/GM for articulation owing to it's simple design.
One other nice thing? No shield. Can be dual wielding whatever you'd like to.
So yes, I'd absolutely recommend this kit.
Quattro Bajeena would be proud This is the gunpla I built from Zeta. Wish it was metallic coated, but it looks amazing as is. The weapons could use more color separation but after building an RG I've felt that way about all my HGUCs. Poseability is great! My favorite of my 3 HGUCs so far, but once I get around to my backlog that could change.
I love all things Zeta This is such a good kit, it isn't hard to build nothing feels like it it will fail(looking at you RG Zeta) Color separation is good The weapons are good, the fact it comes with 3 styles for the eyes is neat.
This is a good kit
Really nice compromise! So the lack of the reflective gold coating does set this model apart from other renditions of the Hyaku-Shiki, but that is really the sole compromise for the kit. The detail is great on the kit with many separate jet vents adding a good layer of separate between the parts. For an HGUC kit, the posability is superb. Honestly, the only thing I would recommend is picking up a can of Tamiya TS-18 Gold spray to paint the gold parts and you're golden... sorry no pun intended.
