Great kit, maybe not worth the price premium. This is the second Hi-Res kit I've built, first being the WZC, so I'd like to start by saying all of the problems with loose parts are not present here! Everything is held in place firmly. The accessories of the Buster Rifle, Shield, and Beam Sabers all look excellent, especially since the armor is gloss injected. My only issue is another hold over from the WZC: it's really not worth $140 unless you're a die hard Wing fan like myself.
Frustrating with little payoff To sum up this build: frustrating. In more words, the kit was not particularly enjoyable to assemble. By that I mean it's more or less a Master Grade sized Real Grade, but it lacks any of the novelty the RG line has (and it seemed to have fewer parts). This kit has practically no gimmicks outside of "Bird Mode" with the wings being notably lackluster in performance. You get a meager single point of separation on them. There wasn't a single point during assembly that I was impressed with the design. The Buster Rifle was almost insultingly simplistic.
However, that's fine given how finicky this kit is. Most of the pieces early on are held together with friction. The head flies off with a gentle tap as do the hands. The shoulder armor once attached is a nightmare to get positioned without knocking a gatling gun off. Attaching the wings to the backpack results in the cockpit door falling off a few times (when trying to get leverage). This kit feels like it's going to explode. One of the vent pieces for the back skirt wouldn't even stay in position (the mirror side's did) and I had to break out a new thing of super glue to make sure it didn't randomly fall off.
In terms of the plastic molding, it's fine, but hardly worth writing about and it's no titanium finish. The three things of note are the number of hollow pieces this kit has. For the price, I was caught off guard by this. Luckily, most are positioned out of the main viewing angle. The other item of note are the undergates which quite a few pieces have which is nice. However, it seems that they were not done consistently across the runners. For example, the red pieces have noticeably fewer undergates than any other color runner.
The final thing of note is the sheer number of unused parts and the fact that they repeat letters for the runners. This kit does not have that many runners (going to "L") so seeing them repeat with the only distinction being the color is downright annoying. I see "G1 15" so I get that runner, only to find I need the "Grey" one instead of the "Yellow" one I picked up.
Overall, I'd avoid this kit unless you absolutely love the design (which I still do). It does look nice assuming you can get it in the pose you want.
