Big Guns Mcgee Barring the fact that this mobile suit is piloted by the best character from Gundam Seed (and no, don't try and debate this with me), this model kit is exceptional and well designed to the very core. This kit has just about everything you could ask for from a Buster Gundam model. 3 pairs of hands, one holding, one closed fist, last being special for the kit itself to allow it to hold its own guns, and a right hand trigger finger which cannot be used. The joints are all sturdy, the armor is well detailed, and there are barely any pieces that will come off once put on.
With the main feature of this kit being the guns, I feel like it's warranted to make a little section about them. To start, each one is on this extremely well articulated arm that connects to the side skirt armor at the base of the arm, and can extend either up to the backpack to plug into a little peg that holds the weapons firmly in place while not in use, and all the way out to the front of the MS, with no sag from the weight of the guns hindering the position you put them in. When held in each arm, this kit just radiates pure badassery, and sitting it up on an action base is HIGHLY recommended!
All that said though, I cannot give this kit perfect marks. As much as I love this kit through and through, it's a little difficult to get the kit to hold the combined Super-Ultra-Mega-Destructo-Beam Cannon. While the combined gun itself can reach over a whole foot in length, the hand connection pegs aren't strong enough to hold the gun on their own, thus making the task of arming this thing by yourself more of a chore than it really should be.Comment Thank you for your feedback! Excellent kit Assembly was entertaining. Color separation is phenomenal. My favorite part to put together (which was the most enjoyable part of any kit I've done so far) was the legs. So much potential to customize and make it your own piece.
With that being said, there are only a few points I'd like to make:
There are quite a few questionable weak points that deserve a mention and most of them all have the same connection type so it's strange that this decision was made.
- Ankle guard grey, and white pieces (the white piece across the ankle, by design, spreads out the grey part so it becomes loose)
- 4x grey clips on green gun parts (same loose connection)
- Shoulder, under green armor, grey detail connector with circle on it… connects with one flimsy nub…
- Orange helmet showpiece over clear part (above v-fin) - this is just precariously pushed in and actually pivots up and down when I touch it (and will wiggle out and fall off with little help)
Also, the orange torso piece… is literally not held on by anything it's just there and has "touch" connection on pieces to keep it there. It rubs up against the white waist pieces of the torso when I move it and I've checked a few times to shave off anything that would be touching and it still rubs somewhere in there. Not sure.
These are not dealbrakers for the kit. They stay on better than most kits and will not fall off constantly while posing. 100% recommend! One of my earlier MGs that i built and it's still the best!. Nice color and parts separation and the pieces just went together perfectly. Only problem is that getting it into shooting poses might be a little difficult.
