An Awesome Unicorn Gundam MG The build process is a lot of fun with the psycho-frame being part of the inner frame and seeing how everything goes together. It hold together well even with all the moving parts for the transformation between Unicorn and Destroy mode.
Diamond in the rough This model is a good addition any Gundam fan's collection. My only complaint is that it tends to want to fall apart when I try to change it into destroy mode
MG Unicorn (OVA Ver.) The MG Unicorn OVA Version, (much like the MG Phenex I have previously reviewed), is just like all the other Unicorn kits out there. Visually beautiful, aesthetically pleasing, but limited articulation, lots of fally-offy bits, and square freaken pollycaps. While I did rank the MG Phenex quite high that was more due to nostalgia as the Phenex is my all time favorite Gundam in the whole metaverse. The Unicorn I do hold some nostalgia as I love the entire Unicorn design (including the Banshee and of course Phenex) in universe, I just cant overlook the flaws of this kit and much as I overlook them on the Phenex (must be that gold getting to my head lol). The build is not the easiest and its articulation is lacking because someone thought square polycaps were a good idea. However, I do have to admit that the Unicorn kits arent actually as bad as people make them out to be. As I said previously the kits do all share the exact same flaws, they are some of the most beautiful kits bandai has made. Sure the functionality isnt the best, but by god all Unicorns look good. So if you're looking for a highly articulated kit, these arent for you. If you're looking for a nice kit to build, then pose it once and leave it on your shelf looking beautiful, then any of the unicorns will do. Just try not to breathe near them as they tend to fall apart.
So despite the flaws in the kit, and me not being able to overlook the flaws, I'll still give this kit an 8/10. They arent the worst kits our there, cause trust me there are worse. But they arent the greatest kits out there. Sure are among the prettiest out there. But if you build these kits carefully and pose them carefully they can be great kits.
Definitely the best of the MG Unicorn kits out there I read a ton of reviews on the Unicorn and which kit would be the most solid in the bunch. The OVA which is this one is gonna be your best bet. It's pretty solid and looks great but what it has in appearance it lacks in posibility. You can't really pose it without an action base and once posed you really don't want to move it around too much. The option of having an open V Fin is also pretty cool. Mine is displayed in Full Attack Mode but the standard look is great too. If you want a unicorn with the least issues, this is the kit for you.
