MGEX is the MG High-end brand that pursues the "EXTREME EXPRESSION" of the MS under certain theme for by combining the culmination of BANDAI SPIRITS technology and different materials. VOL.1 RX-0 Unicorn Gundam is dedicated to the "LUMINOUS MECHANISM" and uses the combination of new materials-Flexible LED Sheet to challenge the "EXTREME EXPRESSION" of "Psycho Frame".
The amount of quotation marks and words in all caps in that given description gave me a headache, so let's try this again: The MG EX Unicorn is the first in a line of model kits that is designed to challenge the limits of what was previously thought possible in 1/100 scale. Using a flexible LED sheet, Bandai is pushing the limitations of articulation and poseability while maintaining a lighting gimmick throughout the entire inner frame. There are new water slide decals, a new MS cage, three shields, 6 beam gatling guns, beam magnum, hyper bazooka, and 4 beam saber blades included making this the most well-rounded rendition of the Unicorn Gundam available in 1/100 scale! (Gotta say, we also really like the lights-off gray destroy mode!)

Build this in shifts! I've built at least one version of each RX-0 MG that's come out and each time I build one, I tell myself "never again". Don't get me wrong, I love the design of the Unicorn, but every time it's like rebuilding a potato from a bag of potato chips. Everything moves, shifts, and there are few large pieces. Everything is made up of everything else. Some kits look great and are fun to build. This? This looks AMAZING, but the journey to get there is tedious and repetitive (building six gatling guns and three shields... oof).
I know it sounds like I'm dumping on this kit, but I'm not. The end result is STUNNING. The internal LED system is brilliant engineering and the joints are SNUG and will keep the limbs right where you want them.

Holy Moly! The price can be tough to swallow, but getting it on sale helps. This may be my favorite kit to date. I love the Unicorn, and this is by far the best version they have made. Transforming is easy, the LEDs are awesome, and all the accessories you could want. If you like Unicorn Gundam and can afford it, you definitely won't regret it.

Great model!! Over all it is great model. Joints are stable for fixed poses, details, armaments and articulation is great. The only down side is that the LED sheet gets easily break unless you are really careful when building the kit and moving fingers are easily dislocated.

Great but tiny little things Kit looks great but tiny little things as many reviewers has mentioned, the V fin not being colored and having to use a sticker is a bit ridiculious for the price tag, and second thing I guess is the flap for the LED unit on the base is kinda janky and wish they designed it better. Also why did they not make the batteries usb powered instead

The first installment in this series features the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam which pursues the limits of luminous gimmicks and combines different materials such as Flexible LED Sheets to recreate pristine Psycho-Frame expressions. The armor and frame have multi-layered structures that result in intricate and detailed results as well as the glowing and color-changing effects of the Psycho-Frame, while its transformation gimmick has been recreated in 1/100 scale. Enjoy the effects of the frame created through the multi-layered structures, complex edges, and depth made through clear and translucent parts colors.
