Everything you want from Unicorn Gundam, at a fraction of the PG cost As others have said, it is essentially 2 suits for the price of one. The ability to transform between Standard and Destroy Mode is awesome, and what sold me on the model. But there is a trade off in that it can feel like some of the parts being transformed are put under unnecessary stress, even with the carefully planned out mechanics.
My personal favorite is the mechanics of the weapons. The fact that there are "clips" to the Beam Magnum maybe a minor thing to some, but was a touch I very much liked.
The perfect Unicorn kit The RX-0 Unicorn is by far one of my favorite mobile suit designs, and the real grade does this mobile suit design justice with amazing articulation, stunning detail, all on top of a rock solid transformation. Easily the best version of Unicorn you can get right now.
A symbol of hope, a beast of possibilities.... My favorite kit hands down. The transforming gimmick is awesome, the detail - amazing, and the weapons, amazing, I love this kit so much. The articulation is great. Except for the head. The head is very limited, but otherwise this guy can certainly strike a pose! The marking decals/stickers are nice. If done right, the kit can really look REAL!
Love the Kit, Hate reality This is a great kit to build, it transform and everything. The problems i've faced were the parts were so small that I've cracked and destroyed several pieces, the shoulder joint most of all. I'd suggest getting this kit but you need to exercise the inner frames before assembly.
Two mecha in one! This is an impressive kit & it's amazing that Bandai could cram so much into a 1/144 scale kit. The transformation into Destroy Mode is fun, but has a few flaws. The feet can be transformed without removing & repositioning the side panels, but it's tricky to do so. The head also needs to be removed, taken apart & reassembled.
Articulation is great except for the head which has limited movement in Unicorn mode and is practically immobile in Destroy mode. The rest of the body is as mobile as an MG & even has a mid-torso tilt!
I also want to note that, at least on mine, the RG frame shoulders were incredibly stiff and led to stress marks on the L-shaped part that attaches the arm to the torso when moved upward. This is also a kit that definitely benefits from decals to break up the sea of white that is Unicorn mode. Despite my issues, I'm happy with this kit & itching to grab a Barbatos as a companion
Can't get any better than this This is one rock solid RG kit (unlike the RG Sinanju). Simple and elegant. Transformation works like a charm. And everything stays in place and looks great in either mode. The transparent red really pops. If you panel line and paint the V-fin gold, this is one gem on the shelf. I'm no fan of the movie, but this kit is a beauty whether you like the movie or not.
The day of Unicorn. This is what a Unicorn kit does right, its transformation is smooth, it can pose with no problems whatsoever unlike the MG or HG kits. it also looks beautiful and has the qualities of being the best RG kit of all time.
A true mini masterpiece The hype is fully believable - this is easily at the top of the list for best Real Grades. The engineering that allows it to be fully transformable from Unicorn to Destroy mode, both suit and accessories, at such a small size, is pretty inspiring. The only con is how long it takes to shift from one mode to the other. While I might complain about some of the fiddliness of the skirt panels or building the head, I won't because, let's be honest, that's more my fault than that of the kit.
Looked awesome, but way too fragile this was my second RG gunpla kit, and It was the most disappointing one I ever built. Building it was great, but my biggest issue was the shield, legs and arms. Not only are they hard to pose, but so many pieces fell off. i can't display it and had to throw it away because when i moved the arm slowly close to his chest to have the shield up, the whole arm broke.
It was able to do unicorn and destroy mode and look really great doing so in just a normal pose. But I wasn't able to do anything else with it. Which is honestly disappointing. So it looks like it's time to get the MG instead one day. Its about ten bucks more but way better I can imagine.
I think the Gunpla Evolution Project is was not great, as I keep hearing the same complaints under forums.
maybe it was my building, but it happened with me too many times with RGs. So i'm a bit hesitant now to get any kind of RG .
if you're good at building do it up. Otherwise don't get it if you casually build.
