I love Grampa This was my first forray into painting! Learned a lot!
First build, what's with the arms and hands? Long time UC Gundam fan, never put together model kits before, and decided to try this as my first d ...
Really cool kit, but not an easy build The quality and look of this kit is awesome, but due to the small size, that leads to a ton of small pieces and decals which might not be the best for newer builders.
Grampa's Got Some Weak Joints This thing was the first RG and unfortunately it shows. From weird foot construction, skirts and thruster bells that love to pop off, and only the RG style poseable hands included. (Which have a hard time firmly holding things and the fingers pop off a lot)
I will give credit where credit is due and say it has a fair amount of accessories, and can be constructed with the core fighter on display. (*cough cough* LOOKIN AT YOU RG GP01)
All in all if you put int he work with the decals this thing is one of the most beautiful Grampa Gundam models ever made, and I do absolutely love mine. If you're like me and you prefer 1/144 scale stuff to 1/100 scale stuff then I'd totally recommend this as the Grampa Gundam to have in your collection.
Fun build but imperfect model This classic is a fun build and easier than other RGs I've done while still being noticeably different from HG kits; I wish I'd done this RG first rather than messing with some of the fiddliness of RG Zakus. The RX-78-2 looks really good once you're done, but some of the joints (particularly in the arms and waist) are much looser than I'd like, which makes it a little finicky to pose.
My guilty pleasure. This kit is a mess, no two ways about it. But like a problem child, I still love it to bits. The aesthetics of it are unmatched and it's the first of its kind.
Great for posing Tends to fall apart if you move it a lot, and the tiny pieces make it a pain to get back together. If you put all the decals on, it looks great without painting or panel lining
Great to look at but things to have a tendancy to pop off. over all i think it was a great attempt.
Was fun to build and had nice gimmicks in the knees and etc.
but overall like the RG Sinanju kit... I had a hard time keeping things in place. all of these issues can be fixed with either coating the joints to give it a much tighter grip but just be warned.
Very detailed kit I really liked this kit even though I’m not a big fan of real grades, there just to little for my hands. The detail is really nice and the articulation is great. It comes with the little core fighter to and a ton of decals and the 30’th anniversary ones to. I would recommend this to anyone who likes real grades and the grand daddy of gundams.
Great kit but fragile. I love this but it is extremely fragile. I literally just finished building this and have had both thrusters on the backpack pop off, fingers in a hand, the shield, the bazooka (mounted on the back), and an arm. Love the color separation and gimmicks especially since I built this and the HG Revive back-to-back.
